Project Description

Hill St. E. reconstruction is planned to encompass a single block extending from Herrick St. and Gartshore St in Fergus. This project is driven by the need to replace aging infrastructure. Hill St. E. reconstruction project also provides the opportunity to improve the functionality of the streetscape and improve pedestrian safety and drainage. The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2025.

This project will include new road, curb and sidewalk, replacement of the existing watermain and sanitary sewer. Installation of a new storm sewer will eliminate ditches and culverts on Hill Street East.

During construction, Hill Street East between Herrick St and Gartshore St will be closed to through traffic during construction. In general, local access to properties will be maintained, however, short-duration restrictions may occur from time to time based on construction activities. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Whenever possible, advance notice will be provided by the contractor in the event access to your property will be temporarily affected.

Key Projects Open House:

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, a Key Projects Open House was held at the Centre Wellington Community Sportsplex Hall (550 Belsyde Avenue E, Fergus) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The Hill St E. Township's project team was available to meet with residents to review the proposed scope of work for this 2025 street reconstruction project.
