Centre Wellington’s cultural landscape has evolved significantly since the completion of the Culture Matters: Centre Wellington Cultural Action Plan in 2013. Recognizing the need for an updated framework to address new realities and priorities, the Township has undertaken a comprehensive review to guide future cultural initiatives.

To support this process, the Township engaged a consultant with expertise in municipal cultural planning. Their mandate included assessing Centre Wellington’s current cultural context, identifying emerging trends, and providing strategic recommendations to enhance cultural development and optimize community resources.

The Draft Cultural Action Plan, presented to Council on November 25th, is the culmination of extensive community engagement, including workshops, surveys, and interviews. It outlines a clear work plan structured around 3 key roles, 13 action areas, and 33 tasks to ensure culture remains a vital component of Centre Wellington’s identity and growth.

It is important to note that this plan does not define culture itself but rather establishes the Township’s role in supporting culture within Centre Wellington.

Community feedback is a critical part of this process. We invite you to review the draft plan and provide your input to help refine the final report, which will be presented to Council in early 2025.
