PROJECT UPDATE - July, 2026
In 2019, the Township embarked on a Cultural Heritage Landscape Study and Inventory. Archaeological Services Inc. (ASI), in collaboration with Fotenn Planning + Design and the Landplan Studio Inc. were retained to undertake this work. It was completed in Spring 2021. In June 2021, staff report PLN2021-19 was considered by Council and the Study was endorsed. Township staff are currently exploring options to implement the findings of the study through policy text and mapping that aligns with current Provincial policies. Updates will be posted to this page when available.
Volume 1 outlines the purpose of the study, background research and recommendations.
Volume 2 outlines the study process and methodologies, including the public consultation and stakeholder engagement process that was undertaken.
Volume 3 provides an inventory of identified CHL's, including their locations and significance through summary sheets.

What is a Cultural Heritage Landscape?
A CHL is defined as a geographical area that may have been modified by human activity and is identified as having cultural heritage value or interest by a community, including an indigenous community. The area may include features such as structures, spaces, archaeological sites or natural elements that are valued together for their interrelationship, meaning or association. Examples may include heritage conservation districts, villages, parks, gardens, farmsteads, mainstreets, neighbourhoods, cemeteries, trailways, viewsheds, natural areas, and industrial complexes of heritage significance.
